Two Nepalese youths died in Portugal

Two Nepalese youths have died in the European country of Portugal in two days. One youth committed suicide by jumping from four floors, while another Nepali youth died while sleeping at night.

31-year-old Ajay Thapa of Gouradah Municipality-3 in Jhapa, who lives in Seterios in the capital city of Lisbon, committed suicide by jumping from the window of the house on the fourth floor on Thursday evening, Umesh Khadka, president of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association of Portugal, informed. Chairman Khadka said that the issue of why Thapa committed suicide by jumping has not been revealed yet.

Thapa, who came to Portugal six years ago as part of a foreign job, was recently working for the food delivery company Uber Eats. He said that the body of Thapa, who was living in Portugal with his family, was kept in the mortuary of a hospital in Lisbon for an autopsy.

Similarly, 28-year-old Tek Bahadur Darlamimgar of Badigad Village-1, Baglung District, who came to Portugal five years ago for foreign employment, died in his sleep. Khadka, president of the association, informed that Darlamimgar, who was living in Jambujira in Beja, died in his sleep on Wednesday night.

According to Khadka, he did not wake up in the morning after sleeping after having dinner, and when his friends went to pick him up, he was found dead in his bed. They immediately informed the police when they found their sleeping friend dead. The deceased Darlamigar was working in an agricultural company called Maravilla located there. He said that his body was kept in the Beja Hospital mortuary for an autopsy. Darlamimar’s elderly parents and wife are in Nepal.

Khadka said that due to the request of the families of the deceased to send the bodies of the two deceased Nepalis to Nepal, the matter is being discussed and necessary preparations are being made.
