Afghan forces opened fire to stop encroachment

The Taliban Foreign Ministry criticized the border closure and said Pakistani security forces opened fire on its troops while repairing an old security post near the border. On the other hand, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz said that this incident is related to the construction being done by Taliban in the territory of Pakistan.

Pakistan has accused the Taliban of encroaching on its territory by building illegal structures. Pakistan said Afghan forces opened fire to stop the encroachment, following which movement on the Torkham border was stopped since last week. Islamabad said that such firing will encourage the terrorists living in Afghanistan.

Hundreds of trucks lined up

Hundreds of trucks laden with goods were queued up and people faced difficulties in crossing the border as Torkham border crossing remained closed since Wednesday following firing from both sides. In fact, issues related to border dispute have been a cause of conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan for many years.
